EDUCATION EXPERIENCEDr. Rekos is a native of West Virginia. He attended East Carolina University in 1998, where he studied biology and received early admission to West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2001. Dr. Rekos graduated at the top of his dental school class, and during his time at West Virginia University, received awards from both the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and The American Society for Geriatric Dentistry. He went on to complete a teaching fellowship at The Ohio State University School of Dentistry in 2005, overseeing young aspiring dentists. In 2010, Dr. Rekos earned his Master’s degree after completing a four-year surgical residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University. During this time, he was privileged to be appointed as a registrar at St. James Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. PRIVATE PRACTICEDr. Rekos practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including third molar (wisdom tooth) removal, extraction of teeth, sinus augmentation, and bone grafts for dental implant rehabilitation. He performs dental implant placement to replace single or multiple teeth including “All-On-4” or “Hybrid” implant solutions. Additionally, he performs orthognathic surgery, manages facial fractures, oral pathology and jaw reconstruction. Dr. Rekos is ACLS certified and is licensed by the Ohio State Dental Board to perform general anesthesia. Dr. Rekos has been named the “Best Oral Surgeon in Central Ohio” eight years in a row by Columbus Monthly magazine. NHL EXPERIENCEDr. Rekos joined the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2010 and currently works with the team in a leadership role treating facial and oral trauma sustained on the ice as well as providing the full spectrum of oral surgery to the entire Blue Jackets organization. He recently was privileged to work for the NHL, covering the NHL All-Star game in 2015 and was asked to oversee the World Cup of Hockey training camp and scrimmage between Team USA and Team Canada in 2016. During his time working with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dr. Rekos has treated some of the most notable injuries in NHL history and has been praised in numerous publications including ESPN the magazine, Columbus Monthly, and FanSided. PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONSDr. Rekos is actively involved with the American Dental Association through the ADA Advisory Circle where he provides insight to the ADA on numerous current dental topics. Dr. Rekos is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Dental Association, and the Ohio Dental Association. He is the lead oral surgeon of a SPEAR study club in Dublin Ohio. He is currently privileged at Dublin Methodist Hospital and is a team doctor for the Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus Crew. PERSONAL LIFEDr. Rekos enjoys playing soccer, hockey, skiing and rock climbing. He resides in Powell with his wife, Jennifer, who currently practices dentistry in Worthington.
